The Solidarity Space
New space for selling products to boost the circular economy and the third sector.

The official shops in Turisme de Barcelona visitor information offices have set up spaces solely for items made by third sector and circular economy companies. Turisme de Barcelona, the official organisation for promoting the city, has designed this new space, called 'el racó social' (social corner) in Catalan, to boost the social economy and encourage the sale of unique products made in Barcelona, giving souvenirs a solidarity and local extra.
The idea is to provide added value to souvenirs in terms of social responsibility. Many of these products have been made by vulnerable communities and social entities, such as the disabled, prison inmates or ex-prostitutes getting back into the job market.
Tourists who visit the Barcelona Original Shops at the offices appreciate that the gift is made in Barcelona and has an added value. Turisme de Barcelona has over 1000 items within this scheme, 98% of which are made in Catalonia.
