The OBT (Barcelona Tourism Observatory) has been awarded the prize Alimara-CETT in the category of Product and Service Innovation, in recognition for the creation of a service in knowledge and tourism intelligence that will help calibrate all the touristic activity.

The candidacy "Observatory for Tourism in Barcelona: city and region. Consolidation of an expanding project" gets this way the first recognition for the entity which was presented in June 2017 as a result of the joint work of the Council of Barcelona, Diputació de Barcelona (the Barcelona province government) and the Consortium of Tourism, in their will to boost the knowledge and touristic intelligence of each institution. One of the values of the Observatory is that overviews the 'Destination Barcelona' and gives a fundamental tool to manage and promote tourism in all its aspects.

The OBT has prepared and published 11 studies among statistics and reports of touristic activity in Barcelona and its surroundings. We can highlight in this regard, all the reports made on the profile and habits of tourists in Barcelona as well as its surroundings, and the activity infographic at the Barcelona destination and the online touristic reputation of the city in 2018, in which tourists give their views on Internet and recommend the city mainly for their cultural resources.
