IMEX Award to Turisme de Barcelona as Best Promotional Entity

Turisme de Barcelona has won the 'Destinations International Global Ambassador' award for its contribution to the development of the congresses and meetings sector. The award, which was collected by the deputy director, Ignasi de Delàs, at the IMEX Exhibition in Frankfurt, represents international recognition of the consortium's work to promote the benefits of the impact of congresses.

This award confirms Barcelona's position in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions) tourism. Specifically, 2017's efforts led Barcelona to be placed in first position on the ICCA ranking as leading congress city. With a total of 2,134 events held in 2017 and 674,890 delegates, Barcelona has positioned itself as the best city for organising this type of meeting. In terms of economic effects, the impact of congresses has beaten all records with a total of 1.851 millions of euros, 21.2% higher than the previous year.

In Frankfurt, Turisme de Barcelona was able to seize some opportunities for the future by organising meetings involving the specialist Barcelona Convention Bureau team at its own stand.
