The first tourism companies have been awarded Biosphere certification

The first Biosphere certifications were awarded this month to the tourism companies who have signed up to the Barcelona Biosphere Commitment to Sustainable Tourism after they met the necessary requirements to implement sustainability criteria and good practices in its management. Thirty-four of the fifty companies that have been awarded certification are Turisme de Barcelona members.
More than two hundred companies have signed up to the programme entitling them to Biosphere certification. They have to undergo training in order to establish the criteria and procedures to be applied in accordance with the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) established by the United Nations, which they have to meet to be awarded Biosphere certification.
